Seisdon’s Motor Sport Heritage, Turner Sports Cars Ltd

Thanks to one man — Jack Henry Turner — Seisdon in Staffordshire became the unlikely centre for a successful, if somewhat short-lived, motor sport industry.

Born in Wales, Turner moved to the Old Smithy in Seisdon in the late 1940s where he looked after and tuned racing cars for a variety of wealthy owners. One of the most enthusiastic of these was John Webb, chairman of Stourbridge glassmaker Webb Corbett, who raced a ‘Turner’ (in fact a converted MG Magnette) for a number of years.

In 1953 Webb became a director of Turner Sports Cars Ltd. and the factory moved into Wolverhampton where larger premises had been found in which a new single-seater Formula 2 car could be designed and built. The car, which used a Lea Francis 1767cc engine, unfortunately suffered from poor reliability and it failed to finish in most of the races in which it took part.

BodyKraft to Launch New £250k Repair Centre

BodyKraft have an exciting new venture!!

Next month we are due to open a new £250k state-of-the-art repair centre in Kingswinford.

We are proud to announce the opening of our new site and have some great press coverage in the Express and Star and Birmingham Post.

Next month BodyKraft will unveil its new business ‘Fastrack’ in a new 6,000 sq ft facility on the Pensnett Estate – our second repair centre and offices on the business park, which will also bring up to 12 new jobs.

 Fastrack by BodyKraft

The new service will focus on small and minor body repairs and through latest technology, will accelerate the spraying and drying of customers’ vehicles to just five minutes – helped by a £78,000 moveable spray booth and UV infrared drying system – the only technology of its type in the region.

BodyKraft has now grown to employ a team of 90 across four sites including Dudley, Wolverhampton and Merry Hill with the new Fastrack facility, which will handle up to 12 vehicles per day, set to bring 12 new roles to the local area including mechanics, panel beaters, paint technicians and office staff.

Our managing director, Mike Pugh, said: “As we mark our 17th anniversary we have invested into providing one of the most high-tech vehicle repair and spraying facilities in the country.

“Many of our customers are local people and businesses who rely on their vehicles and need them back on the road as quickly as possible, so our new rapid service means owners can have their cars and vans repaired on the same day.”

Mr Pugh added that as a family-focused company we wanted to make sure there were new job opportunities for local people. “We’re delighted that this new facility will mean more jobs for people in the Black Country. It’s the engine room of Britain and we need the best local people to be part of our team and what is the most ambitious initiative in our history.”

We have also ensured fellow Black Country businesses benefitted from our growth by using local firms for the construction and fitting out of the new premises; this included M Foster Construction, who are also based on the estate.

Much of our work involves full-on accident and business insurance repairs together with paint and dent removals. Over the years we have become trusted repair specialists for global car manufacturers including Vauxhall, Chevrolet, Kia and Citroen. We are also proud to be an accredited repairer for West Midlands Police.

More Press Coverage and Massive Thanks

DudleyChronicle BodyKraft news article press coverage 15 years successful business

As part of our ongoing press campaign we have a piece published in yesterday’s Dudley Chronicle! We are really pleased with all of our coverage and especially pleased to be mentioned in such popular, well read papers!

We are as always very grateful to everyone who has made this possible – from the staff at the newspaper’s, to Henry Pepper PR for making it all possible and of course to all of our OWN staff in each and every branch.

Without our staff we wouldn’t have been able to say we are celebrating 15 years of business! We have such a fantastic team here at BodyKraft and we appreciate everything they do and all the hard work they put in day after day.

They have seen us through the good times and through the harder times of recent year’s tough economic climate.

Still they stay loyal, focused, hard-working and determined to keep BodyKraft not only afloat but doing well – which can be a bit of a feat in itself in tough times!

There is a saying that “It takes 10 years to become an overnight success” and it’s right! There is also a saying that goes “You can’t do it all on your own” which is also true.

It takes time, hard work, dedication, determination, focus, great teamwork, ambition, savvy and a little bit of luck – and even with all that it’s still a big undertaking!

BodyKraft will always strive to succeed and perform to the highest of standards and with our strong focus and fantastic team we hope to be celebrating another 15 years of business in the future!

Once again, a massive thank you to everyone involved who helped make it all possible!
